We are Claire and Adrian; a couple of nature nerds that have been confined to the city for too long. We hope this site will tell the tale of our preparation for, escape to and life in the country.

Between us we’ve spent almost 20 years in London, both starting north of the river but moving (far) south when we wanted to buy a flat. We’ve commuted by tube, train, bus and bike; but the stress, drama and general inhumanity of it all has driven our search for something different. London is a great city and we’ve certainly loved it at times, but it is time to leave when you trade social events and culture in town for the peace and quiet of home.

After many years of weighing up the pros and cons of new locations across the globe, Devon has captured us in a way that few other places have succeeded.

Now with the location set, a renovation project under our belt (to ensure we’re well prepared for the next challenge) and our first kitchen garden trial mid harvest, we feel truly ready to set the wheels in motion. Our flat is on the market and we’ve started looking for that dream house.
